I went with this instead of more well known brands such as Bodum because this item is entirely metal. I specially didn’t want any plastic to come in contact with hot water. Customer Review: This unit is a good twenty bucks cheaper (at time of writing) than the other bodum french press of the same size. It’s not nearly as pretty as the other one is. However, I assume it’s just as functional. It’s a nice glass container, with a mix of high end plastic and metal components and feels very high quality. As soon as it arrived I just had to put it to some use.I’m from the NW, so I am surrounded by coffee culture all the time. We have our favorite coffee shops/stands/etc and my wife used to be a barista for a fairly high end bakery and coffee establishment. That said, we really have no experience with french presses. In fact, despite our influence and her experience we seldom produce coffee at home as it’s just so easy to go to one of a multitude of great coffee stands. This is expensive however and we’ve been examining ways to reduce those costs at home. We know, from friends and known coffee “connoisseurs” that french presses are the preferred method for getting good extraction while retaining the oils essential to a good cup of coffee. And are versatile enough to produce coffees to varying tastes.The unit comes with a little booklet of basic use and instructions. It suggests a tablespoon of coarsely ground beans, per 4oz “cup” of water. The unit comes with it’s own measuring spoon, which is a nice touch. It suggests using very hot but not boiling water and let it “brew” for 4 minutes prior to consumption. I followed those directions exactly, with some crappy beans I’ve had on hand for several months. I can’t say it’s the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. However, those beans came in a giant bag from costco and have sat open for a few months. All things considered, it was a good cup of coffee and certainly better than the same beans produce from our drip brewing unit.The screen itself does a surprisingly good job of filtering out the coffee and sending it to the bottom of the pot. A tip to reduce the overall bitterness of the brew, don’t let the coffee sit in the press with the beans as this will increase bitterness over time. What I love about this, it takes under 10 minutes to produce a nice hot good cup of coffee. This pot is big enough to fill up 2 travel coffee cups (the bigger stainless/plastic varieties you buy anywhere) so me and the wife have something as we head out the door. It probably also brews tea nicely, so the wife will be trying that out soon.TL;DR: Well made. Works good. 4 minute brew time, 1 tbsp per 4oz according to it’s brief but included instructions. Under 10 mins to brew enough to fill 2 travel mugs. Recommended for sure.

This little guy was perfect! It’s small enough to fit well into a carry-on, the thicker plastic handle & base kept the glass protected, and made the perfect cup of coffee every time. No matter where I was, I had a great cup of coffee every morning, it makes ~12 ounces give or take. And very good value of the money too, inexpensive enough so if I did break it, I could replace it. It makes good coffee, but then again, of course it does: It’s a glass container you put ground coffee and water into. We figured out these things 200 years ago, it’s not rocket science.What makes the Chambord special is everything involved in the process of using it. Parts are good quality; they’re durable and feel good to handle. If anything does break, finding replacements is easy and not very expensive. The assembly is extremely modular too, meaning it’s easy to clean thoroughly and you probably won’t have to worry about it gunking up over years of use. It lacks the amenities some other brewers will try to sell you on, such as advanced filtering systems or quick cleaning methods, but in my opinion these gimicks rank from unnecessary to actively detrimental. The Chambord is the french press the same way we’ve been doing it for the last 200 years, and it works just fine.There’s also something to be said for the way it looks. It might sound silly, but this is something that’s presumably going to be out on your kitchen counter every day, so it should matter if you like looking at it, and I think the design of the Chambord is the sort of classy that doesn’t age. When I make coffee in the mornings, I place it on my counter, and the way the sun hits the glass makes my coffee look so good, I’m almost certain contributes to it tasting better once it’s in my cup. The coffee is ready to serve.My one complaint about the glass container is there are no marked lines for various measurements. It’s part of the Coffee experience but I noticed this Coffeepress on Amazon and I was curious to try one out.Plusses:- It’s compact, well-made and feels good in your hand, like a good product; Heavy and well-machined.- You can press excess water out of the thing while not getting grounds in your cup.- There’s no way grounds can get through the fine filter holes.- You can stir it like a spoon full of delicious.- Both ends of the press screw off so you can press out the old coffee grounds into the bin when done.- The plunger screws down, holding the pressed grounds at the bottom. Not sure why that feature is there but it’s a nice addition to functionality.Cons:- The coffee looks cloudy, more so than with my french press. I started with camerons organic ground coffee, Place the coffee in the bottom of the press and put it in a cup while the water is boiling. After the water boiled pour a small amount of hot water into the coffee grounds directly. Just enough to saturate the coffee grounds. Then place the plunger on and screw down. This was the hard part since the bottom part of the press is really hot but you just have to be careful.Next fill the cup up with the rest of the hot water and let it sit for about a minute. Then swirl the press in the hot water, then Depress the plunger about 7 times, Swirl and depressed the pressure about 7 more times, Keep the plunger depressed and lift the coffee press out of the water so it could drain and slowly release the plunger. The first couple times I got a lot of sludge. But after a while I learned to not depress the plunger so hard and the cup came out perfect. This is a fantastic travel press if your serious about coffee. Well made and superbly designed.
