Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “What I Love:Feels sturdy and well-made – no more worrying about breaking it like my old glass press. Double-wall insulation keeps coffee nice and hot while brewing. Comes with extra mesh filters (a thoughtful bonus). Clear, easy-to-read measurement markings on the inside. I was lucky to get it at a great price. A Few Minor Drawbacks: The mesh filter’s center cut is a bit rough and might not last as long as my old one. No exterior fill lines (though the inside markings work just fine). I wonder if the inside markings might fade over time from the filter rubbing against them. After years of using a glass French press, I decided it was time for something sturdier. My old silica glass one worked fine—until it broke far too easily. This stainless steel press is a welcome upgrade. It feels solid, is insulated to keep coffee hot while steeping, and I was lucky enough to snag it at a great price. The press arrived with extra mesh filters, which is a thoughtful touch. Two were already stacked on the shaft, but you only need one for brewing. They’re good quality, though the cutout in the center is a little rough, so I’m curious to see if it will wear out faster than my old filter (which lasted over a year). The insulation is a big plus—my coffee stays piping hot during brewing. If you prefer to drink it immediately after steeping, you might want to leave the lid off to allow it to cool to a drinkable temperature. One thing I miss from my old press is the exterior fill markings. Since this one is stainless steel, those can’t be on the outside—but it does have clear, easy-to-read measurements etched inside. My only concern is that over time, the filter rubbing against the walls could fade those markings. Overall, I love the durability, heat retention, and the peace of mind that comes from not worrying about breaking it. It feels like a smart upgrade from glass, and at the price I paid, it’s hard to beat.”

Customer Review: “I bought this because I had to throw away a glass one that became cracked. I’d had enough of that, so I bought this one. No regrets. I would recommend it to anyone. Easy to clean, easy to use and makes great coffee. My formula for this French press is: 4 cups of boiling water and 8 LEVEL tablespoons of coffee. I pour a little amount of boiling water into the coffee maker and let it sit for about 1 minute. Then pour in the rest of the water. Put the lid on but don’t push the plunger yet. Let it sit for 4 minutes and then SLOWLY push the plunger down until it can’t go any further. Thought I would include my formula for this one because initially, I didn’t know the ratio of water to coffee for me. I am used to a smaller coffee press. But, everyone should work out what works for them. I like a little stronger coffee so you may want to use less of the coffee grounds. I am thoroughly enjoying this French press and the coffee it makes. This press keeps coffee warm a little longer than a glass one.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I purchased this stainless press for an 18 day trip to the Philippines. Since everyone has those electric water kettles, I was able to easily have fresh delicious coffee everyday with this press. Even the last three days at Okada Manila I was able to make fresh coffee since they also had an electric kettle in the room, although a smaller hotel sized one than the standard residential size I had at my relative’s house. I brought enough coarse French press ground French roast coffee for 18 days in a couple ziplock bags and it thankfully made it through security at SFO along with the press in my carry-on. TSA simply swabbed the outside of the ziplock with some sort of test solution. They didn’t open the ziplocks or stir the coffee grounds. I heard that folks who put coffee in check-in luggage usually find it all over their luggage when unpacking, so I opted for carry-on transport, with the worst option being TSA making me throw it away at the checkpoint. Better than my clothes in luggage smelling like coffee. The press didn’t give a weird taste to the coffee as other presses were complained about in Amazon reviews. I skipped warming the press up first, per the instructions, since I didn’t want to waste relative’s filtered water they pay for in the Philippines. I just added my 6-8 tablespoons of grounds to the press and filled to the fill mark inside with boiling water, stirred the grounds, and started my iPhone timer for 4 minutes with Siri. Coffee was great every time and relatives got to enjoy it, as well. I started putting in only 6 tablespoons because 8 was honestly just too strong. But, 8 tablespoons is certainly a great tasting cup of coffee, as well. The mesh press fit the inside diameter just fine and no grounds were ever present in the poured coffee. The press’ handle did not break off like some similar designed presses on Amazon other reviewer’s complained about, and the press plunger action was smooth and consistent every time. The construction of the press is solid and it didn’t dent at all during my trip. I’m not sure how long it keeps coffee hot as I didn’t want the coffee to over-steep, so I poured the remaining coffee out into a large measuring cup I brought after filling my own carafe, so it wasn’t too bitter. The press is easy to clean. I only wish I also brought a long spoon to get the grounds out of the bottom of the press as I only had a small tea stirring spoon to work with when I got to the hotel at the end of my trip. My hand was just small enough to fit inside the press to get to the bottom to scrape out the grounds. My large measuring cup, the press, the ground coffee, and a tablespoon measuring spoon was a great kit to bring. The included glass travel jar fits 8 tablespoons of grounds. I brought it filled with grounds but didn’t need to use it as I didn’t go on any side trips and had access to my ziplock full of coffee grounds the whole trip. But, it’s a nice travel jar, although not airtight, since the coffee smell made it out easily. I did test my press several times before packing for my trip to ensure it worked well. Overall, this is a great press, especially for someone who’s trying a French press for the first time, and it definitely is a great travel press model.”

Customer Review: “Definitely a well-built and attractive unit. We are very pleased with the ease of use and the spout which does not leak or splatter when pouring coffee (unlike some other brands we have used). Aesthetics and construction – 5+ stars! I have yet to experience the coating flaking off as others have stated, but I don’t put mine in the dishwasher and use a soft cloth/brush to hand wash it. The *only* disappointment is that the coffee does not stay nearly as hot if you let it stay in the coffee maker (which you really shouldn’t do anyway, see my comment later about that). I always pour extremely hot water into the unit, let it stand for a minute to “preheat” the container, pour it out and then add the coarse ground coffee and add new hot water from our tea kettle. Still, the coffee drops in temperature faster than we would have expected for a vacuum insulated unit. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A THERMOS CONTAINER. Others have stated that the coffee becomes bitter when drinking the 2nd cup, but this is true with all French presses if you leave the coffee grinds in the press with the coffee after it brews. Many “coffee purists” suggest that you let the hot water “brew” in the press for the appropriate amount of time (varies depending on coffee, grind size, and your taste), and then immediately pour the entire contents into a preheated thermos or container to separate the brewed coffee from the grinds. This in itself solves the dropping temperature issue as I pour it into a high quality, vacuum sealed thermos which keeps the coffee hot longer. I use a Zojirushi stainless bottle which I bought on Amazon and works well. The coffee stays hot for hours though my work morning. Cleaning is typical for a French press…you just have to thoroughly wash the filter with running water until all of the grinds come loose. You may need to use a soft bristle brush or toothbrush to do a thorough cleaning. Also watch out for some of the sharp edges on the attachment while you operate the press and/or clean it. I’ve cut my finger already! METAL VS GLASS DEBATE The only other comment I have to make is that metal coffee presses and thermoses can affect the flavor of coffee. In fact, I prefer my coffee made in glass and poured into glass or ceramic cups but the difference is so negligible that only a few connoisseurs will tell the difference.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “It’s a great piece of titanium gear for 30 something bucks. Multi functional: coffee, tea, sanitize water, stew/cook pot (when hanging, titanium has a tendency to burn on the bottom), works on coil stove, gas at home / camp, wood fire. Well made/good quality: the lid fits tightly (I hope it doesn’t warp over time). Excellent design details: the side handles has a little notch at the bottom for your finger so it’s stable and easy to grip even when wet or with greasy hands, the top hanging loop has a centre notch so it doesn’t shift around / spill into a fire and it stays up to reduce the risk of burning when you need to get out of a wood fire, + it has a pour spout. Easy to clean… (sometimes milk gets a bit burnt at the bottom if there are hot spots… but you can just wipe that off). The stupid stainless steel knob at the top is responsible for a lot of the weight but you don’t need it, I leave it at home (might actually just throw it out) so it’s even lighter now. Filter is fairly fine and I don’t get a lot of sediments in my tasty coffee… (look up james hoffman french press or cowboy coffee on youtube for best results.) Bought a coozie from another vendor and it keeps my coffee hot when brewing and also protects my hands / lap when I eat meals. I think It’s the best of its kind on amazon.”

Customer Review: “I’ve seen titanium flashlights advertised for twice the price of aluminum ones so I thought titanium is a quite an expensive metal. Indeed it’s more expensive than aluminum but I didn’t realize that you could get a whole pot made out of this material for so cheap. It’s very lightweight and quite sturdy – exactly what this metal offers over and above aluminum. It’s suppose to be quite strong, similar to stainless steel thus manufacturers can make it thinner while keeping the strength. Coffee performance-wise it works very well. The mesh is fine so coffee grinds don’t get through. The press and the pot edge fits tight giving good resistance yet doesn’t feel like it’s going to scratch. Just be sure to get the proper size grind. Not all grinds are created equal. If you get the store bought stuff that’s really meant for paper filters, you may be disappointed that there’s some grit and residue in your last cup. If you get your own whole beans and use a high quality conical burr grinder minutely adjusting the settings to ensure a large enough grind each cup will be like a sip of heaven. I fired this up the butane stove and seems to take a bit longer than a conventional aluminum pot. Titanium isn’t as great of a heat conductor compared to aluminum or copper. Regardless this is great for those that appreciate a good cup of coffee while trying to keep their base weight down. At this price point I’d get 2 if I needed it!”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “2 years of use review: I originally bought this French Press for making coffee while camping. It did a great job of that, easily making about a liter of coffee at a time – enough for me and my husband to both have about 2 big mugs, while keeping the coffee hot. But where I’ve really come to appreciate it is over the last few months, when I started using it daily at home almost every day. It works so well and is so easy! I use an electric kettle to boil water while I rinse out the metal filter from yesterday’s coffee grounds — takes very little time to clean and I can rinse the old grounds directly into my garbage disposal. No need to buy new filters or expensive pods. It only takes another minute or two to pour in the boiling water over fresh grounds, stir, then press. The coffee stays hot on our kitchen counter for hours, so I can make coffee when I get up and it’s still available when my husband gets up a bit later. I’ve probably owned every type of coffee maker over the years and this is simple and makes very good coffee — and holds up to daily use, too!”

Customer Review: “This is a really good unit. Bigger than any I’ve had and perfect for 2-3 people (I drink coffee and want 1-2 coffees myself. So great if you want more coffee on hand. Just takes a min to brew up fresh pressed coffee. Nice thick stainless steel double wall actually does keep coffee hot a little while. Sturdy, and comfortable to use. Pours nice. Won’t break easy like glass. I use in my shop now every day.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I love this brand. I have a kettle by this brand I’ve brought repeated gifts of the kettle for people as Christmas presents and I have a couple of French presses. I love it because it’s more durable than glass and I love the fact that I can order a 50 ounce size. The handle is ergonomic and easy to craft, doesn’t get too hot, and it keeps the coffee very hot indeed. It’s got a very thick insulated layer. I couldn’t be more pleased with this brand. It’s best if you wash it out after using and don’t let coffee sit in it for hours and hours after due date. If you ever do need, you can do a diluted water and vinegar rinse and wash. I recommend not using anything abrasive inside of it. It’s very, very good pot and it’s far better than the other designer brands available that are maybe well known. Very good filtering system as well, better than the most well-known brand in the business. Love this, love the company. They also really stand by their product and immediately respond if you have an issue.”

Customer Review: “Very sturdy. Beautiful. It has 3 filters and makes a great pot of coffee. Easy to clean. The price is unbeatable for the quality.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I bought the Widesea French Coffee Press in 2019. Don’t think that I have ever put it directly into a camp fire, using it exclusively over gas, alcohol, or debris stoves. It has held up well. I am sure that the silicone handle covers will burn off if placed directly in a fire, no different than any other silicone handled pot. I believe the pot is somewhat larger than the advertised 750ml. Probably 800 to 850ml. It is noticeably larger than the other 750ml pots I own. I use this pot not only for coffee, but also to warm water for my dehydrated meals. I simply remove the press from the lid. As a coffee press, it works great. I have had little problems with chewy coffee because of grounds passing through the filter. You do need to make sure that the press is assembled tightly. I bring my water to a boil, remove from the heat and let it cool slightly, stir in my coffee grounds, secure the lid to the pot, let it steep for a few minutes, then press the coffee. I have no problems with leakage as long as I make sure the lid is attached to the pot securely. For what it is worth, I use Main 105 whole bean coffee, purchased at Walmart, and crushed with a mortar and pestle. I do wish the stem for the press was a little longer, but it does its job.”

Customer Review: “We used this to brew several cups of coffee on a recent backpacking trip. It makes a big difference to have coffee. It was easy to use, the coffee was tasty, and it’s similar to my French press at home. I used about 6-8 Tablespoon course ground coffee each brew.”

Complete Buying Guide for Camping French Press Coffee Maker

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a camping French press coffee maker, durability and heat retention are key. Stainless steel and titanium constructions tend to be more rugged and insulated compared to glass models, making them ideal for outdoor use. Capacity matters depending on whether you’re brewing for yourself or a group. Also, consider the filtration system – multi-layer filters or silicone gaskets can reduce sediment in your coffee. Portability features like collapsible handles or lightweight designs add convenience. Lastly, ease of cleaning and included accessories like travel jars can enhance your overall experience.

Budget Planning

French press coffee makers for camping come in a wide price range. Ultralight titanium models tend to be on the higher end but offer superb durability and multi-functionality. Stainless steel insulated presses provide great value for durability and heat retention. Silicone and aluminum options are usually more affordable and lightweight, suitable for casual camping.
